She knew deep down that it was endo

For well over 3 years, I’ve had excruciating monthly pelvic pain. At first, I thought it was just bad gas. But it kept coming back, month after month, always during the second week of my cycle. I can’t tell you how many sleepless nights I spent crying, lying awake in terrible pain. At a certain point, I realized it had to be more than just gas. I suspected it might be endometriosis.

So, I went to doctor after doctor and visited the emergency room countless times. But, everyone just ignored my symptoms. I was told over and over again that it couldn’t be endometriosis because I wasn’t experiencing pain during my actual period. I was only experiencing pain in between my periods.

Well, 4 doctors later, an amazing doctor finally listened to me and heard my concerns. After a laparoscopy, he diagnosed me with endometriosis. I always knew deep down that it had to be endometriosis, because everyone had always told me endo feels like a stabbing pain. And that’s exactly what I was dealing with.

My advice for anyone reading this would be to never give up, and never ignore your body. It’s important that we all be our own advocates and speak up! If I hadn’t continued to speak up about my symptoms, who knows if I would ever have gotten diagnosed.
