She’s not giving in to her endometriosis

Endometriosis Patient Story - daily life

From day one, I’ve had bad cramps with my period. As I got into my twenties, I started to suffer from severe pain in my lower abdomen, both during my periods and between them. Sex was also painful, on and off. And sometimes, my bowel movements felt like I was passing glass. It was awful.

But I didn’t discover why I was in all this pain until my husband and I began trying to have kids. After a year of trying to get pregnant, I went to my doctor to ask for advice. He recommended that I have a laparoscopy to explore what was going on. I had the surgery, and it revealed that I have endometriosis.

After I got diagnosed, my doctor and I tried a lot of different options to manage my endo pain. I had surgeries and tried many different medications. But I’m still suffering from the pain, so my doctor and I are going to keep looking for options.

Life with endometriosis can be tough, but I’m not giving in to it. I suffered from mysterious pelvic pains for about 10 years before being properly diagnosed. But, now that I know what’s causing these pains, I’m determined to find a way to manage them. If you’re reading this, I hope you don’t have to wait as long as I did to get a diagnosis.
