I’ve always had painful periods, but I was just told that it was a normal part of being a woman. In April, I started experiencing pelvic pain constantly, not just during my periods. I also started having painful bowel movements.
But, again, I just shrugged it off. I believed what everyone had always told me about the pain being normal. However, as it continued to get worse and worse, I found that I couldn’t put up with it anymore. Something wasn’t right, and I knew it. I went to see a gynecologist, and she diagnosed me with endometriosis. The two of us are now figuring out a treatment option that works for me.
Even though I’m on the right path now, some days are still hard. There are days where the pain is so severe that I don’t feel like getting out of bed. But, I’ve found that it helps to find other women with endo through support groups. These women understand my pain. It’s encouraging to hear their stories and to know that I am not alone in this battle.
