Many times when I’d get my period, I’d have to go to the hospital because the pain was so bad. Honestly, it was hard! I didn’t know what was going on! I was confused because it didn’t seem like anyone else I knew had the same kind of period pain I had. And, it was an awful feeling not understanding my own body!
That is, until I met my gynecologist. He took me seriously right away. He told me that what I was experiencing wasn’t normal and that he thought I might have endometriosis. He took the time to explain what that meant and all the steps I’d have to take to get diagnosed.
He also explained what a laparoscopic surgery was and what I could expect from it. He even pointed me in the right direction so that I could do my own research! That made me feel so much more comfortable.
After all that time feeling confused, like a stranger in my own body, I finally felt empowered. I’m so glad I found him, because he made the whole diagnosis process so much easier. And, to this day, he’s still my gynecologist, and he’s still helping me understand the ins and outs of endo.
